Intra-School Closing Argument Competition Rules

The 2018 SULC Trial Advocacy Board Intra-School Closing Argument Competition will be held on Saturday March 24, 2018. This competition will be used to select new members of the 2018 SUlC TRIAL ADVOCACY BOARD. The following rules apply to the competition.
1. All participants must add the official TWEN page and sign up on the sign-up sheet to be notified of all relevant information needed to participate in the competition. Please follow all instructions and observe all deadlines in order to be eligible to compete in the competition.
2. The Competition TWEN Page calendar contains all relevant dates and times. Please refer to the calendar for official dates and times.
3. This year only, all competitors will perform a closing argument only, to compete for membership on the Board. Each round will be one competitor against one competitor. The maximum time for each closing argument is 10 minutes in length. You will not be paired up with a partner.
4. Following your argument, the judge(s) will ask you questions about the case or other questions relevant to your desire to be a member of the Board.
5. Adding the TWEN page, DOES NOT register you for the competition. To sign up for the competition, you must sign up on the OFFICIAL COMPETITION SIGN UP SHEET. When you sign up to compete in the competition, you do not need a partner.
6. The dates/times on the sign-up sheet are irrelevant. Pick any time and sign up. Remember to include your name, classification, email address, and a phone number.
7. The deadline to sign up is March 7, 2018.
8. The official problem will be released on the Competition TWEN page on Friday March 2, 2018.

9. On Friday March 9, 2018 you will be emailed and asked to confirm your participation in the competition by midnight. After confirming your participation in the competition, you will be emailed the side you will be arguing in the competition, plaintiff or defense, by Saturday March 10, 2018. You must prepare a closing argument for the side you are assigned to present in the competition.

10. You must have at least a 2.5 GPA to compete and
become a member of the Board. Please see the Board
Bylaws for more information on qualifications and the
organization structure.

11. You should thoroughly review the Board Bylaws
and Membership Requirements before deciding to
compete for membership to be fully advised of all
obligations for membership.
